i am offically a fashion model!!

Sooooo... Today was a BIG DAY!! I woke up and we went straight for our dress crit. it was intense! everyones dressed came out nice though... some were better than others and many were falling apart but it was fun looking at everyone elses.(just my class out of the 4 though for the crit) My crit was nerve wrecking! it is like this piece of art i am so attached to that i couldn't bear even the slightest critisism but it wasn't that bad. She liked the dress alot ... the only problems were with the accecories which i wasn't so attached too. I nixed the bag because it was a little un finished and didn't go that well and then they gave me better suggestions for the jewelry than the stuff i had just threw together the day before. I have pearls now and a really cute barette for her hair and stud earings. I felt really bad for Zoe though... she had a bit of trouble with her dress. It was perfect last night but when we got their for the crit nothing fit that well (too big!!!) and i was basically hanging out in the back (we had to stick the skirt in my underwear to keep it up and the back was hopeless to stay shut) But after the crit (we got out early at like 11:15) and then Zoe went back to her room and we practically fixed it all. Then we did each others hair and makeup for our dresses. She put my hair in a slick ballerinna bun with a cute barrette, then she did a really good job with my make up... it looked really good. And basically i did a cute but pretty natural makeup for Zoey but with a bit of brown eyeliner to make her eyes more blue. After that we went to our first dress rehersal!! lemme tell you! First they just went over stuff and then they showed us how to model . It is confusing. we don't have an actual runway but a stage and we have to move and pose (and be energetic and beautiful!!!) it like 5 different spots to a really random mix that goes from material girl to some Cake song! but whatever. After the run through we did the actual show practicaly with full dress and make up. it was a major frenzy. everyone taping their models in their dresses wipping off their street clothes and stuff everywhere, trying to get everyone in runway order. AHHH i was number 66 in the line up and my dress was number 73 (out of 75) so i got to chill out for a bit. my dress was good but Zoe's was having a few more technical difficalties with the back to a was a wee bit uncomfortable. the modeling.... though i was falling out a bit was a real rush... it felt really cool to be in front of a lot of my classmates and my teachers! After that run through we did another run though in street clothes just for the models sake... that one i did really good with because i was more comfortable without the dress on but Zoe fixed it more so i should be good for tommorow. we stayed til like 5;30 (class usually ends at 4) rehersing and critiquing. I talked to mom a dinner and i here we are officaly moved in and i have to say a can't WAIT for the central air!! after i ate and went to Mr 15 West. 15 west is the boys dorm here and they had this like beauty pagent thing for some of the guys there and they won money if they won. it was really funny!! they had like a tallent section and swim suit and questions and it was just really funny to watch. then i got back to the room... Karrissas parents are in town for the rest of the week to see the show and bring her back. i met her dad and brother... they were really nice and i saw her mom who i had seen before. they were nice and bought me a pint of Chunky Monkey (my fav ice cream) when they went to Ben and Jerrys. Also a girl in my dorm is like totaly re-doing her dress and i helped her a bit. Tommorow i don't have class in the morning because i am basically going to be in the auditorium from 4 to 8 so they gave us a break. I have like a 15 min meeting at 2:30 to show them all the things i have done all summer for a final evaluation. Then at 4 i have a dress rehersal and then at 6 i have the public dress rehersal show!!! i am nervous!! i cant wait to see everyone tommorow who is coming!! Maybe after i can do something but you guys probally wanna get back but call me if you want!!! i hope you like it if i can't see you!! have fun!! call earlier (aka before four PM and not before 10 am!!!) with questions and concerns!!! ttyl!!

Happy Bday Adam!

So... today is Adams birthday and the day before the move and i am over here in RI. One more week left. today i slept in till 11 and went to breakfast then basicaly worked all day. i helped some people out with their dresses and finished my 2nd out of 4 drawings i have due thursday. and that is basically it. because it is our last sunday i think we are having some sort of party tonight in our dorm after cerfew. me and Zoey are having our last fittings tonight before our dress crit tommorow. Hers is really cute... she edited alot from her 1st idea but i really like it. it is all white with really pretty origami pink flowers all over... she is gonna go and put some in my hair too for the show. I am really excited! alot of people are freaking out about their dresses... they have barely finished them yet. but i am so releaved i have mine all done. I should start another drawing! maybe a will post again 2nite!!

So...

Okay... So before i go over my day here is a Fashion Show Review.... those who are still going to the Rehersal it is Aug 1st 6-7 and GET THERE EARLY. Those going to the real deal it is Aug 2nd 7-8 and you need to have physical tickets to get in which we will find out how i can pass them on to everyone. I actually have extras now so if someone else wants to come i can make it work. you should probaly come a little early for that too if you want good seats and you gotta find a way to get ur tickets. okay to answer a few common questions...
1. How Early? depends on which night... for the rehersal i would come an hr early min. i really am not sure how the scene is and would hate to have someone drive all the way up and not get in. for the Regular show... a half an hour for a good seat and to retrive you tickets.
2. Where do i Park? There is street parking on most of the cross streets up Waterman St near Brown but before Thayer St. there are some meter parking spots around there too. If those are all full because of the show (another reason to arrive early= Parking!) If that is full there is a parking garage on Memorial St on the Right coming from the Mall. Also you can park in the Mall if you want too.
3. Cameras?? Both video and photography cameras are allowed and ENCOURAGED BY ME!
4. Can we meet up afterward or before? I am not sure... because i am on the committe i am thinking i am gonna have a lot of stuff to do but i will check in on like Monday and tell you guys. for the tickets i might have to have you guys quickly drop by and get them or give them to mom or something. but everyone has to understand that if i have to go get some work done that i need to get some work done!!
5. Where is it taking place and how do i get there!?? The show is in the RISD Auditorium. It is on the Corner of Waterman and North Main street near the RISD store and the Design Center. if you parked on a meter up near Brown, find Waterman St and walk pass the RISD Quad (dorms i live in) pass the nature lab (on Benifit st). When you see the white church on your right and the bus and trolley tunnel on your left cross the road and take a left (this is North Main ST). Pass the Mail room, Pass the Design Center, Pass the RISD store and once you get to a brick paved Park like area with benches and right across from a bridge turn right and the auditorium is on your right. If you parked near the mall or on memorial. walk down memorial St until you see the 2nd bridge(waterman St) across the river (where the water fire things are) and take the 1st right after you cross the bridge... this is not an actual street it is a paved walkway. walk a little ways and a gazibo, the river and a bunch of steps would be on your right and the auditorium will be on your left.. it should be hard to miss!

Okay so today.... i got up at like 11:15 Fixed the sewing machine and had breakfast. i drew a bit and fixed my dress so it fit Zoe better but i was basically done with that. I did some fittings for Zoe and helped A BUNCH OF PEOPLE SEW THEIR DRESSES. Like 3 people but still... i am suprized how many fashion majors have never touched a sewing machine in their lives. but i don't mind doing it... i love sewing... it relaxes me! So after a day of work a few people from our dorm and Jen our RA went to Fire and Ice. If someone needs a cool place to eat when you are in providence (there is one in Boston and a bunch of other major cities.) It is like this mangolian stir-fry buffet. You pay a flat 15$ fee and you have unlimited access to every stir fry ingredient imaginable. They have 12 different kinds of Pasta, any vegtable you can think of, pinapple, chicken, shrimp, lots of kinds of fish and crab meat, Tofu, Sirloin and pork. you pick whatever combos you want and then you go to their sause station where you pick from like 30 different (and delicious) sauses (ranging in spiceiness). then you bring your food (it is ALL uncooked still)and your chosen sause up to this big grill thing in the middle of the room and they cook it and put the sause on right in front of you. then you can bring it back to your table and either stir in rice or put it in a fahjita! the cool thing is that you can go back and get more whenever you want for the same set price. After dinner i came home and Me, Abby, and Zoey went to Starbucks and walked through Water Fire a bit ( really crowded) then we went to the movies and saw You me And Dupree which was actually 10xs cuter and funnier than i had expected. then we went back for curfew and now i am just chillin with Karissa. It is SO HOT IN OUR DORM!!! i am gonna die!! okay i am going to bed!! nite

Okey Dokey!!

So... Art History! it was fun i got to sleep in the BEST PART though was when i got back Ally and Cat were sitting on the couch in the lounge!! they broke into the door (some girl let them in) and drove all the way up here to suprize me!!! we went and had some lunch and used my Starbuck Card from Aunt Susan's care package (thanks SO MUCH!!!! Those jelly bellys were delish!) and then we explored a bit on thayer before they went home. tonight the whole dorm practicaly is going to the mall to see John Tucker Must Die!! it is gonna be a blast! I was supose to do a bunch of stuff today but i didn't feel like it... i will get it done later.
OHHH good news i have enough enough tickets for Grandma, Aunt Kirsten, Aunt Susan, Victoria, Aunt Karen, Nana and Papa to go to the Final Runway Show on the 2nd from 7-8. If anyone else wants to go tell me and i can try and get tickets for them too. You have to have physical tickets to get in so you will have to retreve them from me somehow. Mom said it would be a good idea if everyone came early anyways... maybe had dinner or something... becasuse even though everyone automatically is in you still want good seats. and Aunt Kirsten- mom wants you to bring your DVD camera so we can tape it and show everyone who could not make it. I don't think i will be able to see anybody for too long anyways on the actual runway day becasue i will be so busy but we can see when the time comes! I have to go eat dinner!!

BTW...

Quick word about the fashion rehersal... i think i might have said the wrong time before... it is 6-7 pm!!! Aug 1st and COME EARLY!!!! ohh.. and don't scream when i walk down the runway... i am SO AFRAID that i am gonna trip and fall on my face!

hmm hmm

So... i had Drawing today. We had some critiques and then we all worked on our final projects for forever... they are 4 self portrits that don't include yourself. i was working SO intensely!i bought some pastels and i am making 4 really close up pictures of select jewelry still lifes... all the pieces that mean something to me. i worked on one today.... and all the pieces are really shiny silver so i had to portray the shininess with my shading and highlights... i really like it so far. the cool thing is that you can see my reflection in a few of the beads.... i asked the teacher and she said that would be okay and both her and our TA said they were really looking forward to seeing the finished product. I was COVERED in pencil and charcol by the end of class and dripping in sweat. i had to take a shower right when i got back becasuse i felt SO GROSS! i am excited for tommorow... Art History!! i get to sleep a little! after class me and Zoe are gonna go to the Computer lab and write of Art History papers (we are the queens of procrastination!) then later that night we are gonna all go see Jon Tucker Must Die... just beacause it looks really stupidly funny! I should get some work done on my guash paintings for Basic Design. this weekend is going to be a Paper Frenzy! gotta go paint

Cake Night and Eye Updates

So... i don't have too much time to chat becasue project runway is on at 10 and i still have to draw a sketch of Zoeys neck for tommorow (don't ask!!). So i went to the eye doctor today. i had to catch a cab and go down there (warick RI). there was alot of controversy over my insurance but after a lot of persuading they let me get my eyes checked. it turns out i have an infection in both eyes. they gave me really good eye drops and they are already starting to make a difference. After i got back i did lunch with Zoey and Abby and then went to the second half of class... really boring... not worth talking about. I basically have been working since i got out on my drawing pictures for tommorow (one to go!) but Karrissa made a cake and declared it was cake night so we are all chilling and eating some cake!! i gotta get to work!!! ta ta

Runway Mayhem!!

Hmmmph... so Monday. I had my Fashion test first thing at 9. It was really easier than i was expecting, a few questions i wasn't really sure on but i got alot right that i know so i am pretty sure that i did good. After i finished i had to wait for everyone else to finish and then they told us that most of monday and tuesday we have open studio for Private label (my partner project which was due today!!) and PaperRama. what a relief. During studio me and my partner Tanja got all of our project done and at 3 i had to head over the the fashion committe meeting. We organized everything with the models trying to figure out who is modeling twice and we got the posters and hung them up around campus. After class my eyes were really bothering me so i went to the nurse... they weren't that helpful (they just gave me a generic version of the eye drops i have been using for weeks) so i called mom and she called my eye docter at home and discribed my symptoms and he said i really should get them checked out. So mom called the RISD nurse and told her the situation and set me up another apointmnent to figure out a time to go to the eye docter. Last night was horible! I was trying to do my paintings for basic design and my eyes were stinging and i had a giant migrane so i just took some advil and went to bed.

Today i had Fashion again... we brought all our PaperRama stuff in and it wass pretty obvious that i was the farthest along. alot of kids hadn't even started it yet. I added a bunch of detail to the top (I took off the chains becasuse they were falling apart) and it looks really geometric and clean which is a nice contrast to the flowy bottom. the teacher came back to look around and LOVED it!! she said it was amazing and commented on how she could tell from the skirt that i knew how to sew really well! She also said even though it was made out of paper it looked totaly like an actual garment that could be sold in stores that was made of fabric. The funniest ting though was that she saw my clutch purse with Jon's flower on it and she just LOVED the flower and wanted me to add some to the actual dress! After i talked to her i hand sewed a bunch of eye hooks onto the back so it has a really cute corset like look to it (pretty corset though... not warrior princess corset) Then i tryed it on Zoey and it totaly fit like a glove!! she looked so pretty in it with her blue eyes and cute blond bob! I am so in love with this dress!! During lunch i went to the nurse for my appointment and she got me an eye doctor appointment tommorow morning. I am going to miss half of basic design but i think that i really need to get this eye situation taken care of because they hurt SO BAD! and i really don't like basic design!! I am going to have to take a cab over at like 9:15. I have to go to the nurse later today and get all the information. After lunch we had Private Label Crits. Ours wasn't amazing but it wasn't that bad. we had some cute ideas but we were missing a few things but so was everyone. After the crits we continued with PaperRama. I tryed to recreate one of Jons flowers but i couldn't so i just opted for a cute white paper towel bow. At 3:30 i had another Fashion Committe Meeting. We organized all of the dresses in the order they will appear on the runway so that they looked cohesive and so the few people who were modeling twice could change. This really selfish girl on the committee kept trying to put her (i hate to say it but kinda UGLY) dress as the finale when we all wanted this other one last (I don't want to spoil it but it is really funny!). There was alot of controvesy but we won. we also had to make sure everyone has names of their dresses for the program. Mine is called Bounty Baby (as in the paper towel i used and because it is a baby doll dress... not to be confused with bounty hunter!)and my dress is 3rd to last and Zoey's dress (the one i am modeling for) is like afound 7th to last. Me and Zoey have decided that we are going to the mall right before the fashion show and getting our makeup done for free at one of the counters. we also got to solve the hair and shoe situation which we will deal with later. Now i am just about to get some dinner and check with the nurse!! plus fun Basic Design HW!!

BTW... the Fashion Show Rehersal on the 1st is from 7-8!! i would come really early because it might fill fast!!!

Weekend away

Wow... what a weekend. Sorry i couldn't post all weekend but the internet at home is down so i had to wait till i got back to school. Well... here is the low down... Friday i had Art History.... pretty uneventful... the class had a giant argument about whether this dudes picture of an upsidedown urinal was art. Right after class Ally and Jon were there.... we parked her car and went to my dorm... i showed them around and introduced them to people then we went for some lunch at the Caf. Afterwards we drove Zoey to the bus station (she went to the Vinyard with her family for the weekend) and then brought all my junk to the car. Then we drove to visit Jon's best friend Max who lives like 10 mins away from providence. after like a half hour there we left for home... let me tell you!! The TRAFFIC!!! Bumper to bumper... it was a nightmare... after like a few hours we went out for dinner at wendys and skipped some of the mess. we had fun on the road catching up and singing to the radio. When we got home at like 8:30 or something i sat around and watched some good ol' TV with the Fam (i got my beloved TiVO clicker back!!) then at like 9:30 Lisa V called (Other Lisa is in Australia!!) and i drove (like 1 min away down the road) to her house and we chilled on her bed and played with her cats (RIP Kitty) and talked about our summers so far. She and my other friend Rachel were at Theater Camp for the past 2 weeks and their final preformance was Saturday so i told her me and Ally would go.
The next day i tryed to get a bit organized ... i made an impossible list of the work due this week and decided to try and get some of it done. Ally called early and because she doesn't have working internet at her house either we desided to go to Leach Library (the londonderry library) but when we get there it turns out it isn't open on weekends in the summer... actually it turns out that practically EVERY LIBRARY IN THE STATE OF NH IS NOT OPEN ON WEEKENDS IN THE SUMMER!! It drove us crazy!! we 411ed almost every library within a 30 mile radius but not a one was open!! I really wanted to get some of my Art History paper done... but oh well... i have procrastinated this far i might as well go another week .. eh?? After we gave up our search we went to my house and Ally went through all of her RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology.... the school Ally is attending in the Fall for Photo-Advertizing) papers and i did some of my Barbie project. After a bit i got pissed at her because she was distracting me and talking about leaving me and going to Rochester so i made her leave so i could get work done and she could pick me up at 12:30 for Lisa and Rachels play. Well it turns out that once we got on the road to drive to the impossible to get there Play House in down town Manchester that it takes like a half and hour to get there .... and it was like 12:40 when we like actually left my house. So using Allys knack for the crazy back roads we got there in like 15 mins. I was totaly dressed like a scrub though becasuse i had like no clothes clean (I was wearing pink adidas nylon pants with holes in the knees from sliding during dodge ball in gymclass sophmore year and a ratty old Brown sweatshirt from Aunt Karen's days!... just to get the picture in your head!) but we got balcony seats and it was a pretty laided back play so it was no biggie. It was really cute though.... they used all Disney characters and songs and like 4 groups of kids (from like a bunch of age groups mixed together... a lot of cute little ones!) preformed showcases that the older kids wrote and then everyone sang in group songs in between showcases. They actually sang one from High School Musical which i think all of my female cousins (minus baby Sophie) would appreciate!! Rachel and Lisa did really good and it was alot of fun watching them!! Afterwards Me, Ally, Rach, Jon, Lisa, Alex (her boyfriend), Alex's friend and a bunch of crazy drama kids went to a cast party ( i guess a lot of non- cast was included!!) at Uno's. We had alot of fun and the pizza was good. Drama kids are funny... they just LOVE breaking out in song in the middle of lunch!! After lunch Lisa, Rachel, Jon, and Ally came to my house to help me start making my PaperRama dress. Lisa is about the same size as Zoey ( Lisa has bigger boobs though!!! something she should be proud of!) so i used her to try and fit the dress. they helped me make the paper chains and i sewed a bunch of my paper towels together and we all had fun dying them!! then i made Lisa (what a wonderful and obedient helper!) dry the paper towels with my moms hair dryer. She came up with a system!! while she was drying it i made my clutch purse (which Jon joyfully contributed to by making a really cute paper flower to put on it) and i sewed the top piece together. After the paper towels were dryed i atached them to the top part and that is about where i am now. I am having second thoughts on my paper chains (Sorry Lisa and Rach for slaving over them) but i might try and incorporate them somehow. After Lisa went home me and Ally and Jon went to the Movies and saw half of Superman (Ally had to be home at 12... a waste of 750 i must say!!)
Then today i woke up early and my eyes were KILLING ME!! I put some drops and ointment in them and then packed up my stuff and we all went out to breakfast as a family (minus David... Basketball forbids him to do anything but basketball!) Then i called Steph and we went to Moo's (the local Ice Cream place... cute name huh?) we hung out and talked about colleges and then i went home. by then my eyes were BURNING!! Me Mom and Adam (he is going to spend the week at grandmas and will be fed neverending French Toast for all meals i will assume!!) Left Londonderry at 3 and got to the bus station where we were giving Adam to Grandma and Grandpa right on time. Mom felt bad about not having Karissa and Abby come over for the weekend so she invited them for lunch. Karissa had too much work but Abby came and we had lots of fun. We went to Joe's in the mall for burgers. Then mom dropped me off and i showed off my dress (PS Jon... everyone loved your flower!!). Then i got a bunch of my barbie stuff done and me and Abbs had a Cram session for our Fashion Final tommorow (yes i have tests.... this is not summer camp!). but now it is 1 20 and my eyes are burning and i am about to colapse so adios!!

Change in plans!

Sooo.... Abbs and Karissa aren't commin this weekend. I thought in the end that it would be too hard for my mom to entertain while we are packing up the house for the move. BUT I am still coming and i am unbearably excited!!! Ally and Jon (her boyfriend) are coming at 12 when i get out of Art history and we are all gonna hang out here for a bit and i wanna show them around and let them meet everyone!!!! They are my 1st non-family members to visit! then we are gonna leave after an early dinner and go home. I still have alot of work to do while i am home... and some laundry!!
Yesterday i had Basic Design... really boring...probaly my least favorite class because i kinda find everything we are doing a bit pointless. That afternoon i went to an Admissions meeting where they told us alot of useful info about getting into RISD and putting together your portfolio. Then we all watched Project Runway in the dorm and my RA Jen, bought us a Vermonster.... which if you don't know what that is it is this like giant 30$ tub filled with tones of icecream flavors and bananas and brownies and cookies and lots of toppings from ben and jerrys. It is ment for like birthdays and big partys and stuff. it was tasty!
Today i had drawing... my critique wasn't amazing but neither was anyone elses. After we had a lecture on 1 and 2 point perspective which i have done SO MANY TIMES at school. i have to do a project this weekend using it... i am going to be bored out of my mind... i had to do like 3 perspective projects sophmore year. but no one else gets it! After lunch we had our last figure drawing session. Both the TA and my teacher said i was doing a really good job and that i had good style and teqnique. that made me happy. This afternoon i went to the mall with Zoey to pick up a present for her Mom... we had fun... it was a nice walk.
I am SOOOOO excited for tommorow!!! I CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!! i miss everyone alot!!! see everyone at home real soon!!

Good News!!

Guess who is coming HOME!!!! ME!!! yay! Me, Karissa and Abby are getting away for the weekend. So asked Mom (and with a little bit of a struggle) she said yes. You see Ally was going to come up for a day but it was going to be boring because practically everyone is going away this weekend ... SOOO... i decided i could go there. And Karissa has been really stressed and homesick lately so i though it would be fun for her if she came and got away from everything and i didn't want to leave Abby by herself... plus i was going to go to Newport with her... but this will be way more fun. Ally... because i still want her to see my room and the campus is either going to pick all of us up on Fri night or drop us all off on Sun night... so she could have a little dinner with us... meet some people and see the campus. I can't wait to see EVERYONE and we are all excited to go out but we have ALOT of work to do. We all want to get a big chunk of our PaperRama Fashion Show dresses done. SOO>>> i was thinking a bout getting a bunch of volunteer friends (any takers??) to help us out!! it will be fun... just like project runway. It would just be extra helpful to have a few different perspectives on our projects.... and because i have such smart and creative friends... all of our dresses are going to kick butt! Plus you guys get to see me and meet my cool new friends!! ( abby and karissa are both in the block island pictures.... Abby is the really tan one with brown hair and Karissa is the cute freckled one with the blueish bikini.) I am a little homesick so i am really excited to go home. Plus if i get all this work done i (as well as Karissa and Abby) will be so relieved!! But we want to have a little fun too!!

So today.... I had Fashion Class. In the begining of the day we had a field trip where we all went to this garment production company thing.... which is a nice name for a sweat shop... literaly... i was sweating through everything it was SO hot. but it was very intresting to see people actually sewing the garments we see in stores. After our luch break we had our big Personal Vision critique (the one i made the greek isles mood board for) I actually got a really good review!!! She said she love my concept and that all of my dresses were extreamly beautiful but very wearable. She also said she loved how you could see from my mood board where my colors were inspired from. The only thing wrong was that i missed a few seams on my flats but almost everyone did that so i am really happy. She said my sketches improved alot!! We also reviewed our concepts for our PaperRama projects.... some kids have really good ideas.... one girl is making her out of road maps, another out of cookie fortunes! one is using peppermint patty rappers!! there are alot of really good ideas! She really liked mine though... so did all the kids. She told most of the other kids that theirs were impossible or going to be alot of work but she said mine is totally workable and extreamly cute. i am really excited to start this weekend. I bought some die for my paper towel and this wierd spray painter thing to help me out.. i tried it out and it looks reallu cool. I am gonna take Zoeys measurements friday so i will have them ready for the weekend. I finished all my work for the rest of the week so i can get caught up on stuff for next week so i will have bunches of time for my dress at home!! i should get to sleep though... i will write 2morow!!

Class again

So.... i had class again today. I had a CAD (computer assisted Design) demonstration during the 1st half and i had Fashion Drawing with pastels for the second. CAD was a bit boring because it is basically what i did last year in FIT using photoshop. only this time it was like 10xs easier. I finished making my textile prints (which is what we had to design) with like 2 hrs left. I helped some girls out and i talked to the TA and the Teacher for the rest of the class. they are both really nice. The teachers are doing this thing where they switch classes so we can all have a little pinch of their expertise. This teacher is pregnat and a real sweetheart. i talked to her about the school i am looking at and she told me about how much she loves NY and about by trip to block island and everything. Then i talked to the TA who is a fashion design major from Mass and she was telling me all about the cool places around campus to visit, the good resturants, all about freshman year at RISD and all the best resedencial halls. It was fun... she told me to look her up if i went to RISD (she would be a senior). After lunch with Zoey, I went to a blaring hot room to draw fashion sketches with pastels (not good for my eyes may i tell you). We had a live (clothed) model who did fashion model poses and we had to draw the way her body was placed aswell as the clothes she was wearing. i was dieing of heat by the end of class but it was really helpful stuff. Now i am just going to try and finish up some work and stay cool. Mom had informed me i have like 1 dolor left on my Master Card so i am not able to spend any money until she can get more on it. Karissa just got a giant package filled to the brim with candy. i am so jelious!! she better share! Tommorow we have a big fashion critique and a field trip to a Mill or something like that... i don't really know all the detals but it might be fun. talk to you soon

Block Island

So I went to Block Island yesterday.... it was a lot of fun... we had to wake up wicked early though to go (5:00) and i had stayed up really late that night (2:00)... so if you do the math that = Really sleepy Sarah! The whole getting there part took a bit of time.... we were on the bus for a bit and then we were on the ferry for like and hr. It was fun when we got there though.... i have never been. We basically walked around the shops and were at the beach the whole time. I got a nice tan and i actually went swimming... the water was nice. We had to be back by 3 at the ferry though so we wern't there that long.... but we got back and we all ahd dinner and hung out in the lounge and had dinner and stuff. Today i slept until 11 and head "brunch" and now i am working on HW... Me and Melanie might go to this little Grafiti class later too.
Here are some Pics from Block Island ....

i gotta get to work!

Half Way Mark

I can't believe this thing is half way done already...three weeks in Three more to go...., is seem like i just got here!! It is crazy. I went to the gym yesterday... it was fun... Chole and Zoey went too. We went on the treadmills and on the elipticals.... we had fun. Then after i chilled out with everyone in the common room playing Would you rather and watchin i love the 70's on VH1. I had Art history today so i got to sleep in and hour. me and Zoe had a quiet breakfast... i had rice crispys with granola which is a very tasty combonation i have discovered! Class was fun... it was even more fun when i didn't have to present. After class i hung out in my room for a bit. Dad came by at around 1 and we went and had lunch at the Greek place called Andrea's on Thayer and then we went for Chunky Monkey at Ben and Jerrys. It was fun. After Dad left i got a lot of work done. I finished coloring in some fashion sketches and drawing my color story for my concept board. I walked down to the RISD store and got a board and then mounted my Sketches, flats, adn my color story on it.... that project is completly done... and it is due tuesday!! i am getting good at this time management thing. I also got a bit of my barbie project done. The dress i made for it is really cool. It had this khaki colored strapless top with cute little metal studs in it (pretty studs not punky studs) and a pretty minty green pencil skirt with a nice cuff at the bottom... i gave it cute red accents to go with the red shoes that it came with ( it isn't Christmas-y though... i made sure!) I gave her a cute necklace and a ponytail. I am going now to go out to the movies with Abby at the mall to see Pirates!! i am excited!! Block island is tommorow... i will tell you more later!

Crazy Crazy

goodness... sorry i didn't write yesterday... i was a bit overwelmed and i couldn't get to the computer. Yesterday i had Basic Design... i was alittle dissapointed in myself because i knew my drafts were not that good and i didn't put the time i should have into them. I have a big problem... i have realzed... with rushing things even when i have enough time not to... i guess it is just in my nature. I am all about finding the fastest route, finishing everything first. I guess maybe it is because in my mind faster is better... even though it isn't always true... maybe it is because i have such sports oriented brothers who have always pushed the fact that faster is better or maybe it is because i like moving fast... not stopping. Like in NY last summer i liked the fast pace of it all but now that i am in a slower "take your time" enviorment i am having trouble stopping myself. But i am learning i guess. Anyways... when i was in BD (Basic Design) we had like a 5 hr Critique of all of our drafts. it was SO INTENSE. we all pin our work to the wall and the whole class comments and critisizes it. I like the open enviorment and everyone sharing their opinions. I think it is alot better to hear from your peers what they like and what they think you could improve on your work then just having a teacher fill out a comment card and giving you a grade. But it is hard sometimes... when you are staring at you work on the wall, waiting for someone to say something about it... and you know EXACTLY what they are going to say is wrong with it... and you are just anticipating it. But i know it is helpful. After the Crit (the cool artzy nickname for Critique) we started working with Gouache ( a water color like paint). It was fun to paint and mix colors again... even though we were just doing boring value scales (which i have done like twice every year of my High School art life!). I missed painting... I havn't really done it since 1st semester Oil painting (which is REALLY different than using Gouache). After we cleaned up the paint the TA (teachers Assistant) who is going to be a Senior painting major at RISD, showed us a computer slide show of her work from her portfolio. she showed us it in chronological order and narrated her progression as an artist and how she grew through her classes. It was really interesting to hear her own interpertation of her paintings (the were REALLY good). After that i wasn't as upset about the kinda bad Critique ( i got a B- on the project which is better than i thought i would get). I just wanted to grow and move forward and learn from my mistakes. hopefully i can come back again with a better piece and my teacher (who i like) will apreciate my improvement.

After B D Class yesterday i had to get straight to work on my collage for my FD (Foundation Drawing) class. We were supose to get a picture of a piece of art work and make a collage of it using neutral colors (tans, browns, blacks, grays, and whites only). I went the day before last weeks class and got a really pretty postcard at the RISD store of this chinesse like flower print with a butterfly. I liked it alot but i forgot it when we had class last week so i had to borrow another picture from a girl named Becca who brought an extra. Hers was of this women playing a piano ( i mentioned it before) and i started it is class for like 2 hrs. But yesterday when i sat down to finish it for todays class i realized i hated it. i meen the original painting is nice but it was so hard and complicated and i hated what i had done. So learning from my lesson from BD that day... i desided to start from scratch on the original postcard painting i was planning on doing in the first place. I closed my door and put music on and got it done and i really liked it! I was proud of it too!

After i finished that it was time for Project Runway! our dorm was PACKED with people to watch the first episode! it was really fun watching it with all my fellow fashion girls, critiquing everything they made. It was fun to watch it with people who really love fashion. I am so used to watching it with Mom or Dad or David or Adam! Major difference. It was a really good episode! My friend Steph called me right after and we discussed everything... it was a blast!

Today... I had FD and i was actually excited to get to class and show my work. Everyone else did pretty good. We all had hung our stuff up and our teacher started asking us what stood out to us and say why (we were not allowed to use the phrase 'I Like...' though so it was tough). On one of the walls with nine pictures on it mine was the 3rd mentioned that stood out (which is really good) They all said it was really good and i got no negative feed back which made me really happy. It was the first Crit that i actually enjoyed. I really got into it and commented on other peoples too. It is such a secure enviorment that i feel ok to comment on other peoples work openly which i really enjoy. After the Crit we moved to a room in a different building. Our old room was hot and sticky and had no windows. the new one had a nice breeze going through and was nice and open. I felt alot more comfortable in it. We started a Negitive space exercize/drawing. It is hard to explan it if you don't know what it is but it can be difficult to understand for the first time (which it was for most of the kids there). There was a giant still life of chairs and easels and tables and we had to draw only the negative space. I have done so many of these kinda drawings in my Highschool drawing classes so i thought it was a piece of cake. But after a while after i finished my outlines with white charcol (horrible for my eyes... they are red and stinging... i had to take my contacts out at lunch and load my eyes up with the eye drops Aunt Kirsten gave me) My teacher tried to get me to draw the negitive space within the negitive space. i was really confused because the way i was taught there can't be no negitive space with in negative space. i could hear Miss J (my art teacher at school) yelling in my ear all the Neg. space rules that i was breaking. I told my teacher this and she said she understood. She was just trying to push me further but i really didn't have enough time to do it her way. But a bit after the TA came up to me and said he really liked my drawing style. That was a BIG complement coming from him (a drawing major).

After lunch we had figure drawing again. the whole shock of it all was gone now that it was the second time (plus it was two women so i was much more comfortable). They did a few short poses that i really didn't like but after a while they did like 15 min poses which i really got into. I started to enjoy it alot and the shading was progressing and starting to look really life like. after a while my teacher said we should focus less on getting the whole figure in and more on only the intresting parts by blowing up certain things on the page. by drawings (in my mind) started getting really good. after the 15 min pose we all walked around the room and looked at everyones stuff. Most of the people you could tell really don't like drawing and have no experience except for in fashion. A few were alright. A lot of people really liked mine.... it was alot different then everyone elses... style wise. I was proud of it i guess. next we did a 30 min pose with both models on good paper. I really like the longer poses because you can really get into the details and finish the picture and shade it and everything. I got SO into my 30 min one. i was covered head to two in charcoal! I think it is really good so far ( i didn't fully finish) and i might put it in my portfolio for college. The teacher said i had some style issues to deal with (i did rough skectching and blending and i should pick just one plus i wasn't finished and i was going to fix it) but it was really well done otherwise. After class i was less tired than i usually am after Drawing class.... i was more excited about what i had accomplished.

After i got back to the dorm... me Chloe and Karissa went to Kinkos to make copies for school work and then we went to Coldstones so Karissa could by a pint for our fridge! tonight i am probaly gonna go to the gym with Abby, Zoey, and Chloe and then i would like to get some Fashion stuff done with. I have Art History tommorow so i get to sleep in a bit and i got my presentation over with so i just get to relax which is nice. Dad is taking off work to visit and take me out for lunch too so that will be fun. I need to go get ready for the gym! TTYL

Un-Mark Your Calenders

okay.... really bad news. I am only allowed to invite 6 people to the fashion show. 4 go to Mom, Dad, David, and Adam and i am not really sure how i am going to choose the other two. It might be possible if people have extra tickets to get more but i am not sure if i can get them but i will try. The other thing is there is a dress rehersal people can come to instead of the fashion show... it is basically the same thing only there might be some mistakes because it would have been our first time running through it. That one is on August 1st and it is 1st come 1st serve so if everyone comes early they should get in. i am not sure on the actual times but it should be around 5ish or later(i will post the real times when i get them). the real show is from 7-8. I am going to try my best to get extra tickets. Also if they allow video cameras (keep your fingers crossed) Mom will try and make a video of the whole show and she will make copies for everyone who couldn't come aswell as those who did come and want a copy. I am really sorry i promised everyone they could go... i really wanted everyone to be there. But the dress rehersal will be just as good hopefully so you can all come to that (just get there EARLY!)

Well in other news... i made it on the Fashion Show Committee. It wasn't like i was really good and they picked me personaly... they drew names out of a hat but i was picked! The Committee basicaly runs the whole fashion show... back stage and organizing everything. It is going to be alot of extra work but i think it is going to be fun... expecially because i will be able to see how a real fashion show is run better than the other kids because i am actually helping run it!! I am a bit excited for that. I have SO much work to do for all of my classes.... i am going to have to try and get organized and manage my time better so i can get everything done. I have a bunch of drafts due tommorow plus a giant collage due thursday so i should get working!! Sorry again about the show!!

Re Mark you Calenders!

okay okay okay... i said i was pretty sure the fashion show was the 1st... well i lied... it is the 2nd.. 100% POSITIVE... okay ... maybe 99.9%! so AUGUST 2nd!!! Fashion show... it is in the late afternoon i believe so plan to come (because if you can i want you all to do so because it is going to be awesome!) around then. I will give a more distinct time later... the only problem is that if it rains it has to be indoors and then not everyone who wants to see it can come because of fire codes. So i just wanted to say that. Today was okay... i was not excited about waking up early though! I had Fashion Class... we had a giant Fashion History lecture in the AM portion of class and then we went on the postponed fieldtrip to the Fabric store in the PM spot. there i got some swatches for my private label project with Tanya (we have to design part of a line that would coinside with the style of Susina... a teen line owned by Nordstroms), I got some fabric for my barbie project (we have to make a dress for a barbie doll), and i got notions for my PaperRama dress for the closure. it was fun but we had to wait around a while afterwards for everyone to finish. After class i chilled out with Chloe and Abby a bit. Then we went with a bunch of people down to dinner (vegitarian Pizza... the whole diet thing isn't working out so well... i don't have enough will power but i am still trying to eat less junk food) and then hung out in my room again playing around on the computer. I wanted to do something tonight but everyone ... including me has work to do. So i am just gonna organize my stuff and do a bit of Basic Design HW. I am so excited for Project Runway!! it starts Wednesday! our whole floor is going to watch it!! Bravo at 10:00!! be there or be square! gotta go!

Back to school

So... yeah i am B-A-C-K! I missed everyone but it is all good now!! Today i slept into like 10 ish and then Aunt Kirsten made Eggs and Bacon and DnD coffee (10 Xs better that the stuff at school!) Then after that Grandma came over and we left for Providence. Mom met us at the mall and we explored Bed Bath and Beyond for new room ideas in the new house and then we went over to the cheese cake factory for lunch. I got a Tomato, basil, and cheese mini pizza and brought some back here for my fridge (which was devouered later by Ella when she was whining about a pizza craving!) after lunch I said goodbye to Aunt Kirsten and Grandma and me and Mom went to my dorm, dropped my stuff off and then walked around Thayer St eating Coldstone icecream (i got the apple pie one... very tasty!) and looking into the stores. We went into Urban Outfitters and Mom said that maybe I could go back to school shopping there and in other places in Providence. We also went to Urbans home funishing section and they had GORGEOUS BEDDING!! i SOOOO want it for my new room! everything they had was beautiful! After mom left i chilled in the room for a bit and then i was talking to Marissa. She is trying to do this Diet thing for the rest of the program so i think i am gonna do it with her for moral support and because i wouldn't mind loosing a few pounds for back to school shopping plus because i have a cafeteria (filled with everyday healthy stuff like salads, fruit, wraps, grilled chicken etc.) and a gym fully avaliable for me for free!! So me and Marissa walked to Whole Foods (the closest grocery store) and bought some healthy snacks for the fridge. then we went and had dinner and we chilled out in the dorm to cerfew. I was so excited when i heard Italy won the soccer match! After hanging out with my Uncle Michael (100% italian) all day yesterday i was happy when i found out!! Well actually more relieved that Aunt Kirsten didn't have to deal with him if they lost!!!! Ha ha.. just kidding. I should get to bed i have Fashion class tommorow... my favorite!!

BTW

Oh... by the way (get it... BTW... aren't i clever) I put up a new picture bar of RISD pictures up top. if you double click them you can see them better on my Photobucket which also has a lot more RISD picture plus others you can look at! (you can only fit 10 on a strip so i had to choose the best ones) just letting you know!!! Now i really need to go to bed!

Quick Detour

So... yeah... a lot has chaned since my last post. Um im not at RISD this weekend .. im in Westerly RI at my Aunt Kirsten and Uncles Michael's house. You see... i said the other day that they were gonna maybe stop by the dorm because they were in the area... so they did and they told me that Saturday (today) was my grandparents 45th Aniversary and everyone was going sailing and having lobster and stuff. So... after a kinda mean run in with the Public Saftey guy and my RA Jen they actually let me go for the weekend! They aren't supose to because you need to have like either a parent take you out or have written consent from your parent like the thursday before the weekend you leave. but they called my mom and we got away with it. Yesterday night was nice... we drove back (my cousin Victoria is in FL with her Dad so it was just me) and i went and got set up on the couch downstairs in their new fixed up basement... it is alot more comfy/cold there than in my dorm.. plus there is a big TV with an actual CLICKER and HBO!! that my friend is luxury for a dorm girl like me! After watching a bunch of Sex in the City re-runs i went to bed. Mom called unfortunatley and woke me up at 9 the next day by calling my cell. Aunt Kirsten thought it would be fun not to tell anyone that they brought me back and because it was such a last min thing no one had a clue so it was going to be a suprise. Aunt Susan called that morning and Aunt Kirsten said she didn't get a chance to see me because i was with Nana and Papa. So no one had a clue. me, Aunt Kirsten and Uncle Michael got crepes at this cute local place and then went to the Yacht Club to suprise everyone. I stayed in the car and they went out to the pool where Grandma, Aunt Susan, and my cousins Cody and Joe were. Kirsten said that she didnt know what to get Grandma and Grandpa for their anniversary( i was the present i guess) and then she secretly called me on my cell so i could sneak up on everyone. They had no clue. They were all freaking out... it was funny. I played in the pool with Cody and Joe and lounged by the pool a bit reading my required reading, sipping virgin strawberry daquaris and getting tan/burnt ( i have a bit of an obvious sunglass tan from my new pair!)After we had lunch at the club we went for a bit of Sailing on Uncle Mikes boat and then we swam some more at the pool. After we went back home to change we all went to Aunt Sue and Uncle Mikes house for Lobster which was tasty and then after we went to some firework thing with the boys that was hosted by one of the Casinos. It was cued to music from the radio and stuff too. After that we went back home... i watched Garden State on HBO on Demand and then here i am. Tommorow ... or well technically today ( i am still on RISD sleeping patterns) We are gonna sleep in and then me and Kirsten (and possibly Grandma) are going to meet my mom for lunch probally somewhere in providence place (the mall) and then drop me back at school. It is so sad... i am like Dorm-sick... can that happen?? I miss my girls so much! It was crazy when i left... it was like an hr before cerfew so i didn't get to say goodbye to alot of people... actually alot of people didn't know i even left!! But it was sad leaving... even though it was just for a weekend. It has only been two weeks too!! imagine when i have to leave for good?? i can't even think about it. well i should get some sleep. good night... or well good morning!

Busy Busy

I have been doing so much stuff and i am SO SLEEPY! Last night after my post i ate dinner and chilled out with Abby and Zoey in the work room singing Ashley Simpson on the tops of our lungs (really badly may i add). Then we helped Sophie get ready for a date she had with this guy that ended up being postponed for tonight after she got all ready. Then me, Zoey, and Chloe went to the gym... i took a shower than me and Sophie went to Thayer to go fetch a huge list of goodies (Starbucks and Coldstone) for practicaly the whole dorm. Then i got back and did my Laundry with Sara and hung out in the work room doing some of my drafting for basic design while Karissa helped Lauren spray paint the plaster mold she had just made of herself for her Drawing class. It was bright red and the fumes where awful! I was light headed for an hour. By the time i went upstairs it was like 1ish and Melanie and Krissy were in my room on Karissa's computer and i took them like 1hr to shut up and leave so i could sleep!! Then today i woke up at 830 and cleaned my room for when Nana and Papa came. then me and Zoey had breakfast (during which i just realized Zoey and Lisa D are like practicaly the same people... totaly alike.. they both look like reese witherspoon and are ultra preppy and cute!) And then we went to Art History. I was nervous because i knew i had to go fourth on my presentation but it turns out i was the only one who listened to directions and sent the teacher the link of the painting i was analizing so only i could go. I think i did good... she told me i did a good job and everyone clapped... plus i should get extra points for listening.... out of all the 7 people who were supose to go only i did it right! I am awesome! After my presentation she let us out early and i went to meet up with nana and papa. we went and parked in the mall and eat lunch at Joes American Grill (really good burgers) and then we did a little shopping at Nordstorms (I got a pretty black and white striped jersey dress and a pair of Jackie O sunglasses.) After that i gave them a short campus tour and we went back to my dorm and talked to Zoey a bit and relaxed then the rest of the girls came by after 4 and i introduced everyone and we all sat and talked until 510 and then me, Nana, Papa, and Karissa went to this really nice seafood resturaunt called Hemmingways near my fashion class. We had alot of fun talking and eating. Then after dinner Nana and Papa left for the mall and me and Karissa went to go back to the dorm. the street are wicked crowded lately because they are filming some movie on the campus. I got all excited and thought it was the OC at first and that i would have an Adam Brody sighting but Karissa said it was some superhero movie called Underdog. We passed when they were doing a fast car scene write near Waterman St, where my dorm is. It is kinda cool to see all their equitment. Anyways Aunt Kirsten called and she is in town with Michael at some resturant and they might stop by the dorm later to say hi. Ally also said she might come tommorow... key word MIGHT! and my Mom might come down Sunday. busy busy busy. OOHH I just added new ringback tones so everyone has to call and listen to them. Also everyone keeps on asking for my mailing address... if you scroll down to like me first RISD entry then it is written there!! I gotta go read my Required Reading for Advanced Writing Workshop next year... gotta get it over with!!

Sleepy Sarah

AHH... it has been a crazy two days! Sorry i skipped yesterday but i couldn't get to a computer!! Yesterday i had my Basic Design class. We did drafting ALL DAY! It is like mind numbing technical work that can make you go CRAZY! i had to draw these crazy out of proportion drafts of this stud earring i have over and over again making sure all the mesurments are perfectly symetrical then EXTREAMY CAREFULLY going over it with jet black sumi ink. Me and Zoey were going mad by the end of the class. During my lunch break i got my package from my mom (my chanel poster, cough drops, a letter from Tiffany, and a card) and i have to say... i am for the 1st time a little homesick! My Chanel poster looks really good above my bed though... all the girls love it! well after class yesterday I hung out a bit, ate dinner and then me and Lauren went to the RISD gym. It was kinda nice! At first when we went we were a little disapointed because we thought they didn't have tread mills but it turns out (as we found out after we complained about it to our RA when we got back) that there is a whole room we didn't see that is full of them! But we went on the Bikes for a bit. They did have this like detoxifying yoga class you could take... where they turn the heat up real high and you sweat buckets and do yoga at the same time but they didn't have enough spaces left. when we got back we just hung out in the dorm for a bit. Later at around 9ish i walked out to Kinkos with Chloe because she needed to make a copy and then we went and got shakes at Ben and Jerrys across the street. Today I had to wake up at 730 when basicaly half of my dorm didn't have to wake up till twelve because they had Art history!! So i had to move around quietly trying not to wake up Karissa this morning. My eyes are really blood shot because i have been wearing my contacts for was too long. I wore my glasses today but my eyes feel so dry and are still blood shot... hopefully it will clear up so i can wear my contacts again because they are so much easier! So i had breakfast with Zoey and then i went off to Foundation Drawing... let me tell you... the longest class of my life!! i feel SO DRAINED OUT!! First we had there intense critiques of our nature lab drawings. the teacher, the TA (Teacher Assistant), and the other kids totaly analize your work. they kinda liked my Turtle drawing... one girl said it looked to rough but then Zoey was nice and said it had good contrast. Then my Teacher said even though my hands are a little cartoony that she would like to congratulate me on capturing the true values of the turtle shell aswell as it's texture. I guess that is a good thing. After that we started a new project that is due next week on thursday. it is a neutral value scale collage of a colorful painting. I chose this pretty Matisse of a a lady playing a piano. it is gonna take me for ever. cutting all those little pieces gave me such a headache. After our lunch break we went back to start figure drawing, which i have never done before. If you don't know what figure drawing is... it is then a nude model comes in and does poses for the class to draw. It was a little wierd at first but after a while you really get into the drawings and forget that they are naked. We had both a male and female model (both over like 60) who alternated doing 1 min, 2 min, and 5 min poses. We had to draw with our charchol all the proportions and try to make it all look life like in the time periods we were given. It was so exausting because we had to stand at an easel, doing no stop drawings for like 3 hours. By the end i was covered in charcol dust and about to keal over!! I took a little nap when i got back and then desided to write in my blog!! Tonight i really have to work on my Art History paper and Oral presentation due tommorow! i haven't even started it yet! We were gonna go to the gym but i think i might have to pass. Sara and Karissa did there presentations today (they have the same teacher but a different day!) there is also a casino night tonight at seven so i want to finish by then so i can whip all the art boys butts in poker!! you get free movie passes if you win too! Hopefuly David, Adam, and ESPN have taught me well! Tommorow i get to sleep in until 830 then me and Zoey have art history and i have to do my 5 min presentation (which i should be doing now) Then Nana and Papa are coming to visit after class at 12. we ae gonna hang out for the day and then they are taking me and Karissa out for dinner at 615. i am excited!! I gotta go work on my project!! write u later! <3

Happy 4th

It is sad not to be home on the 4th of July! Sorry i kinda got cut off on my last post but i had to leave the computer lab because Abby was dieing of hunger! Last night was fun. We went and got starbucks and hung out on Thayer street (the trendy college street). There were fireworks but they wern't that good and we were bored so we went to this indian clothing store where this funny old man works. I was in there earlier that day (plus a few times before that) and he gave me brown paper bags for free for my PaperRama project. But he has this thing and everytime you come in you get two of these free kinda cheap looking bangles. i have like a million from him already but he said i could get four because i was there before and came back with friends. anyway... the store has all these authentic belly dancing outfits from India and Abby and Chloe tried them on and danced around in the dressing room to the belly dancing music the old man put on the stereo system. me and Zoey got alot of pictures of them making fools of them selves. It was alot of fun. Today, because we had the day off from classes we slept in till 11 and me, Zoey, Abby, and Chloe went out for this brunch like thing (not really brunch because we ate steak sandwiches and fries) at this cute greek place. Then we all went back to Chloe's room and did our homework together while listening to bad hip hop music and dancing around the dorm. Sara, Sophie, and Lauren came and did their homework with us too... it was so much fun. I finished all my drafting for tommorow and i got my fashion sketches done too. then after we got dinner (which was a fourth of july barbacue with really good cupcakes!!)me, Zoey, Abby, and Chloe went back to Thayer and went into this cute vintage store and tried on these crazy poliester outfits from the 70's. then we were walking over to CVS to buy ringpops (i got a watermelon one!) and on the way back we got soaked by a random down pour. After that we sat by the river to dry off and then went back up to the room to chat, snack and watch TV. It is funny how now that the first week is done the cliques are starting to form and some people are starting to seem more innoying than they were before!! aww... it is only like 10:30 and i am really tired! I have Basic Design tommorow...and afterward me and Zoey are going to find pictures for our Foundation Drawing class. I also have an Oral Presentation and paper due friday for Art History on some painting. I like that class but i do not like papers and oral presentations!! the good thing is that my teacher lost one of her papers so we don't have to do the group project too like all the other classes. i am going to go watch tv with the girls... email me and send me packages!!!

Mark your Calenders!

Oh My... i had my Fashion class today and i am just SOOOOO EXCITED!!! We had a discussion about our fashion show in the end of the summer. (either Aug 1st or 2nd.... i am pretty sure it is 1st though!)The project is called PaperRama!! It is kinda A LA Project Runway... if you follow the show! We have to make a design completely out of paper products!! I am pumped.... this is what i live for! You can use any matereal that is paper based (ie cardboard, construction paper, wax paper, paper cups, sugar packets, photographs, magazines, tissue paper, tolit paper, wrapping paper etc) and only 10% (excluding jewelry, shoes, and undergarments) can be non paper. so if you wanted to ad some trimmings (ie ribbon, beading, lace, buttons) that is okay aslong as it is kept to a small amount. The fun part is the models are us!!! well... for the most part! You can pick anyone in your fashion class or someone outside who isn't in the RISD program who wouldn't mind driving up alot for all the fittings and dress rehersals! I am modeling for my friend Zoey and she is modeling for me. Both of us alread have our designs down! I am doing a strapless babydoll dress... it is gonna be mostly blue because Zoey has these intense blue eyes but there will be a bit of teal and purple in there too. I am gonna make a bodice like top out some material i got from brown paper bags that i will color blue with marker or paint it or something. Then right where the bodice ends i am going to put a bunch of these paper Oragami like chains that i am gonna dye blueish and wrap a round her waist a few times and then tie a cute bow in the back then the actual dress part is going to be made of this really thick paper towel i bought. it is the really soft kind that is kinda fabricy and it has a subtle diamond print on it. I am going to use watercolors to dip the towels in of different blue shades so you get a cute kinda tye dye effect but more flowy and elegant. then i am just going to drape the paper towels really pretty under the bodice. I am going to try to hand sew everything but i may have to use some glue here and there. I also bought this really pretty gauzy like blue paper that i might use for a cute tool like trimming. i am so excited to make it. Zoey is making a pink dress for me that is going to be covered in these beautiful oragami flowers. i can't wait... everyone has to come... it is like a giant event with 80 designs!!! i have to go eat dinner but i will write again maybe after the fireworks tonight (i know... it is wierd but RI does fireworks on the 3rd of july!) ttyl

Out RA Jen made the tags on the doors for us before me came... they are really pretty... now i have a white board on my door which is really cool!! then there is our mini fridge! it is Karissa's mostly but we both use it. The there is the picture of both of our beds and our draws... there is alot of storage. then there is a close up of my bed... it was a little messy then because i was still unpacking.

Okay... i really need to get some drafting work done for Basic Design but i will get some people pictures for tommorow or maybe later tonight!!

Mid-Day break

This is probally the 1st post i have writen that wasn't at like 1 in the morning!! I have been getting so many emails and comment from everyone and i am so happy so many of my friends and family are reading what i am doing. I miss everyone and remember visits, emails, calls and letters are ALWAYS welcome!! i am trying SO hard to get pictures up of everyone but i am having some technical difficulties!! i might go check out the computerlab today and check whether my wires will work there for my camera . Today we decided not to go to the beach because we are all so sleepy a we all want to get all of our work done!! i woke up at like 11 today to go and do my project with Tanja. it took like 15 min and then i skipped Breakfast and went to the RISD store with Abby and Melanie to get the stuff i need for Foundation Drawing on Thursday. it was another 100$!!! i have like 50$ left on my supplys account so hopefully it will all work out. After that i dropped my stuff off and went to the Nature lab with Abby, Melanie, and Zoey to work on the turtle drawing i am doing. While i was there Ally called... she said that she might try and visit me tonight but it depends on wheather her parents let her and Ian doesn't mind chilling here for a bit!! I told her to tell him that there are alot of pretty girls here so you never know!!! Any way... then i was really hungry and got lunch with Zoey and then i went back to my dorm. Then I called Nana and Papa and we planned their visit on Friday. we don't have any plans for tonight but maybe i will just work and get some sleep... depending on whether Ally show up or not (quite doubtful). so i am gonna go paint my nails, draft some stuff and do some reserch for my Art History Project. Maybe i will write again tonight!!

Fun Fun Fun

First... my last post.. it says satuday but i was writing it as if it was still Friday (i wrote it at like 1 in the morning)Today i slept into like 10 and then had breakfast with Chloe, Lauren, and Sadie. then me Chloe, Lauren and Sara went to this art supply store like 15 min away because they have really cheap prices. The walk is nice.... almost no hills and there are alot of cute boutiques and cafes along the way. I was so excited... my mom let me buy a 24 pack of Prismacolor markers!! it is like the MAJOR HIGHCLASS MARKER!! it was like 60$ for the pack... but it is so worth it because it will make my fashion sketches come to life! After we went in to this amazing vintage/antique shop!!! it was so cool and SO CHEAP!! I will have to bring Cat there.... she would just die!! They had alot of jewelry, vintage Birthday cards and postcards, vintage patterns, vintage handbags, and alot of other really cool old stuff!! I bought a grab bag of necklaces for like 1 dollor!! Then after shopping we went to this cute cafe for grilled cheese and italian sodas! After that we went back. Me and Lauren went to check out the bus station to see his we could all catch a ride to the beach in Newport maybe tommorow. and then we went to check our mail in the mailroom. I got a package slip but i can't retrieve it untill the 5th of July because the mailroom is closed. Then we chilled at the dorm until Dinner at the Met(the name for the dinning hall) and then we all went for movies (the Devil Wears Prada...Really good but nothing like the book which is also good) Then we chilled around town after hitting Starbucks for Water Fire... which is this big providence thing during the summer where they light giant fire bucket like things that are floating in the water and play lots of music and have street preformers (There was a creepy mime). Then we got back to the dorm to hear all about my friend Liz's date with her fellow ID guy (ID= Industrial Design)to this 10$ Reel Big Fish concert or something. Aww.. RISD romance! There is Dropkick Murphys concert next week that i might go too!! Tommorow we are thinking about catching a bus to the beach after lunch and doing all our homework there so that might be fun. My room mate wont be back to late sunday. We have the 4th off so we are gonna party!!! We have a water ballon fight with one of the guys floors planed out which outta be fun. I gotta work on my group project with Tanja tommorow at 11. Ohhhh it is officaly Sunday now... sorry the dates are allways messed up because i write these things so late. I am on such a messed up sleeping sceduale... it is crazy... plus i had a grande iced Caffe Mocha around 9ish! im gonna go email some people and then go to bed!!ttyl!!

Day of Relaxation

I have already decided that Fridays at RISD are nice! I slept in till 8:30, had a nice quiet breakfast with Zoey, had Art History (REALLY intresting stuff.... i am excited even though my teacher is a bit crazy... kinda in a good way). I walked to the mall at 12:30 and met my Grandparents for lunch at UNOS (amazing pizza) Then we went back to the campus and a gave them a little tour!! Also grandma gave me some delicious homemade butterscotch candies which my dorm mates totaly devoured. After they went home we all got dressed up and went to the Cheese Cake Factory... the food was good... I had the Coffee Heathbar Crunch Cheesecake. Yum Yum! Then we were gonna go see The Devil Wears Prada but they got sold out so we are gonna go tommorow. Them when we got back we watched a little (pretty lame) Karaoke in the quad (RISD kids can't sing) and then I chilled with Melanie, Sara and Sara (Not a typo... just ALOT of sara(H)'s)and we took goofy polaroids and listened to music. I also worked alot on my personal view project. I finished my Greek Isle concept board yesterday and i made my 6 sketches inspired by it today. They turned out cute. Tommorow Karissa (room mate) is leaving pretty early to go help out at this major womens golf tournement (that wei chick is gonna be there) in Newport, RI.She will be gone most of the weekend. I don't have to many plans. I told Sara (the one from Chicago not NY) that we could go shoping down this cute street with all these nice botiques and vintage stores after breakfast. Plus i promised My Private Label Project partner Tanja we could work on out stuff together later.and i have the Devil Wears Prada to look forward too!! I am SOOOO sleepy so i am out!! G'night! Sarah
